Privacy Policy

DwellCheck reports are built from public NYC data about buildings and places, not about you. You can use the site without an account. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and Google AdSense to show ads, and both use cookies. If you give us your email address, we use it only to send you DwellCheck updates.

Addresses you search. When you search an address, we send it to geocoding and NYC Open Data services to build the report, and we may cache the result. Searches are not tied to your name or email.

Email sign-up. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, your browser's user-agent string and a one-way hash of your IP address. We use the hash only to limit abuse; we cannot recover your IP address from it.

Purchases. If you buy a report, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe's use of your information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

Usage data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) and our analytics and advertising partners receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and the referring page.

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage entries to make the site work, for example to remember that you dismissed the email sign-up prompt or that you unlocked a purchased report.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and how features are used. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data as described above. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense). Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of personalized advertising from other participating vendors at www.aboutads.info and, in the EU and UK, www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, through a consent message managed by Google. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy and cookie settings link that the message provides.

We do not sell your email address.

We share information only with providers that help us run DwellCheck: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics and advertising) and the public-data and mapping services used to build reports. Each processes information under its own privacy policy.

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. To access, correct or delete information we hold about you, email support@dwellcheck.io. Depending on where you live (for example California, other US states, the EEA or the UK), you may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires.

DwellCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be noted on this page.
